Here is the agenda for our 9 day/8 night trip:
Day 1:
Fly into Heathrow
Board the Heathrow Express train directly into Paddington Station
Check-in to Hilton London Paddington
Take the London Underground from Paddington Station to Waterloo Station via the Bakerloo Line toward Harrow & Wealdstone
Visit Shrek’s Adventure and the London Eye
Walk across the Westminster Bridge to Tattershall Castle for dinner
Take the London Underground from Embankment Station to Paddington Station via the Bakerloo Line toward Elephant & Castle

Day 2:
Slow morning (to account for jet lag), breakfast at hotel
Take the London Underground from Paddington Station to Westminster Station via the Circle Line via Victoria
View Big Ben and Westminster Abbey (you can add on tours if you’d like to spend more time here, we just did a walk by to see the outside)
Walk through St James’s Park toward Buckingham Palace; view Changing of the Guard [schedule]
Take the London Underground from Green Park to Oxford Station via the Victoria Line toward Walthamstow Central [transfer]
Take the London Underground from Oxford Station to Leyton Station via the Central Line toward Hainault
Watch Leyton Orient live football match
Find a local spot to have dinner near the stadium before heading back to the hotel
Take the London Underground from Leyton Station to Liverpool Street Station via the Central Line toward West Ruislip [transfer]
Take the London Underground from Liverpool Street Station to Paddington Station via the Elizabeth Line toward Paddington

Day 3:
Slow morning (hopefully last day of jet lag), find a local breakfast/brunch spot
Take the London Underground from Paddington Station to Wembley Central Station via the Bakerloo Line toward Harrow & Wealdstone
Watch Denver Broncos live American football game
Find a local spot to have dinner and wait out the traffic before heading back to the hotel (recommend reservations because of the massive crowds after game time)
Take the London Underground from Wembley Central Station to Paddington Station via the Bakerloo Line toward Elephant & Castle

Day 4 (Halloween):
Have breakfast at the hotel
Take the London Underground from Paddington Station to Tower Hill Station via the Circle Line via Victoria
Visit the Tower of London
Find a local spot to have lunch
Take the London Underground from Tower Hill Station to Embankment Station via the Circle Line via Victoria [transfer]
Take the London Underground from Embankment Station to Leicester Square Station via the Northern Line toward Mill Hill East
Enjoy Wizard Afternoon Tea
Go trick or treating! I used this blog post by FrogMom to help me find neighborhoods that would be participating – find a good one that works for you! We ended up at Primrose Hill. (took the Underground Northern Line)
Take the London Underground back to the hotel, from wherever you ended up!

Day 5
Have breakfast at the hotel
Take the London Underground from Paddington Station to Kings Cross St Pancras via the Hammersmith & City Line toward Barking
Visit the Tower of London
Board the LNER train from London to Edinburgh
Check-in to Courtyard by Marriott Edinburgh
Walk to William Chambers Monument
Experience Harry Potter Guided Walking Tour
Walk around the Edinburgh city center, stop for a full dinner or choose multiple locations and have a snack or drink and continue on to the next spot
Walk back to Courtyard by Marriott and get a good night’s rest!

Day 6
Have breakfast walkable from hotel; we did Starbucks, but there are local cafés available as well
Take the LNER train from Edinburgh to Manchester
Check-in to DoubleTree by Hilton Manchester – Piccadilly
Walk to dinner at Nells Pizza
Walk back to hotel

Day 7
Have breakfast at the Manchester Piccadilly train station
Take the train from Manchester Piccadilly to Manchester Airport
Board the shuttle to go on the North Wales Sightseeing Tour
Take the train from Manchester Airport to Manchester Piccadilly
Find a local spot to have dinner – we tried Village Brasserie and the kids had their iPads for this dinner after the long day on the road
Walk back to hotel – we decided to hang out in the lobby bar for a couple of drinks before bed

Day 8
Have breakfast at the Manchester Piccadilly train station
Take the LNER train from Manchester Piccadilly to London Euston
Take the London Underground from Euston Station to Tottenham Court Road Station via the Northern Line toward Battersea Power Station [transfer]
Take the London Underground from Tottenham Court Road Station to Paddington Station via the Elizabeth Line toward Reading
Check-in to Hilton London Paddington – our bags were stored with the hotel while we were in Edinburgh and Manchester, retrieve bags upon check-in
Take the London Underground from Paddington Station to Charing Cross Station via the Bakerloo Line toward Elephant & Castle
Explore Trafalgar Square – make sure to take a picture with the lions!
Walk to Piccadilly Circus and visit shopping options, we took the kids to Hamley’s and it was multiple floors of fun!
Take the London Underground from Oxford Circus Station to Paddington Station via the Bakerloo Line toward Stonebridge Park
Leave the kids with aunt and uncle at the hotel. Order them room service and get movie night ready!
Take the London Underground from Paddington Station to High Street Kensington via the District Line toward Wimbledon
Indulge in a Michelin Star dinner at Kitchen W8
Take the London Underground from High Street Kensington Station to Paddington Station via the District Line toward Edgware Road

Day 9
Have breakfast at the hotel
Board the Heathrow Express train at Paddington Station for direct access to London Heathrow
Fly back to DEN
